Dr G Harindranath

Personal profile

Dr G. 'Hari' Harindranath is a Reader in Information Systems in the School of Management. Hari has a background in political economy and holds a doctorate in Information Systems from the London School of Economics. His research interests cover both the social and organisational implications of information and communications technology (ICT). Hari's work on social implications of ICT examines the use of ICT for development and in developing/transition countries, and more recently the use of social media in social transformation movements. With regard to the organisational impact of ICT, he is interested in the use of ICT in SMEs, and in the way emerging market multinationals are using ICT as a key lever in their internationalisation strategies.

Hari is an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Information Technology and the International Journal of Knowledge Management; Associate Editor of the Journal of Global Information Management; Senior Editor of The Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries, and a co-founder of the Association for Information Systems-affiliate conference, International Conference on Information Resources Management (Conf-IRM). He has previously served Associate Editor of the Journal of Global Information Technology Management.

Hari has published in leading journals such as British Journal of Management, European Journal of Information Systems, Human Relations, Decision Support Systems, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Information Management, The Information Society among others; edited special issues for journals such as Journal of Information Technology (see Recent Activities below), Journal of Global Information Management, and Journal of Global Information Technology Management; and presented at numerous international conferences.

Hari teaches information systems management on the MBA and MSc (International Management and Business Information Systems) programmes in the School of Management. In 2008-9 he was chosen as the 'Outstanding MBA Teacher' by his students. Again in 2011-12, Hari was awarded the School of Management's first Duncan Harris Memorial Prize for Excellence in Teaching.
