Personal profile

Lucia is a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London.

She has over 15 years’ experience working as clinical psychologist in inpatient and outpatient eating disorders services for young people and adults in Italy and in the UK.

In Italy, Lucia worked for the Italian Ministry of Health on a national research project focusing on the predictive and psychopathological dimensions of young people with eating disorders.

Following her move to London, Lucia has continued to conduct clinical and research work. In her clinical work she values the therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of the unique recovery and self-development journey for each person.

Lucia’s research work focuses primarily on eating disorders in young people and adults.

As part of her PhD project, she has collaborated with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London in evaluating brief psychological interventions such as Cognitive Remediation Therapy and Emotion Skills Training, aimed at improving cognitive and emotional processes for young people suffering from anorexia nervosa.

She is currently interested in studying the application of a social constructionism approach to the therapeutic work with people with eating disorders and their families; and also, in exploring the Environmental Sensitivity framework in relation to eating disorders and other mental health conditions.

Lucia is a member in the editorial advisory board of the journal European Eating Disorders Review Journal and review editor for the journal Frontiers in PsychologyEating Behaviour section.
