Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

This chapter reviews the key findings from several research studies of NGOs operating specifically in Ghana. The chapter draws on a key research project by Agyemang et al. (2009a) that studied the effectiveness of NGO accountability in Ghana. NGO activity in Ghana is widespread covering all aspects of the economy including poverty reduction, education, health and agriculture. The studies undertaken in Ghana provide examples of the issues that NGOs working in emerging economies have to manage, and the roles of accounting and accountability in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of this management.
