Personal profile

Research interests

Hyemi's research interests centre on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. Specifically, she sees CSR/ sustainability as an emergent organizational field or (more provocatively a new market). Thus, her research has focused on how the field of CSR and sustainability has emerged and developed from different stakeholders’ perspectives and at multiple levels. She has three large research areas, broadly: (1) the emergence of governance especially focusing on the role of government in this governance dynamics both at global and domestic levels and CSR disclosure about the global governance and CSR issues(2) CSR and sustainability practices in different national contexts, particularly non-Western countries; (3) micro-CSR studies that focus on how individuals—CSR/sustainability professionals and social entrepreneurs—work in the CSR/sustainability field within their organizations and in the field.
