Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in measurement problems within clinical psychology with a focus on what makes people vulnerable for developing emotional problems, how to identify the best approach to help them address their problems, how to determine if they are improving as expected during psychotherapy, and what predicts if improvement can be sustained. I largely work within a cognitive-behavioural framework and focus on how to implement research recommendations in everyday practice within health services. I pursue parallel and complementary tracks of utilising large archival datasets and small sample, idiographic bottom-up methodologies with the aim of bridging research and practice.

In line with the above priorities, I am interested in emergent approaches to psychometrics, both within and across individuals. I am also interested in how knowledge of individual case formulation can be systematised and the development of formulation skills as a central aspect of therapist expertise.
