Personal profile

Dr Clive Cheong Took is a senior lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering. His research contribution has been in the area of signal processing and machine learning with applications in biomedicine, finance, telecommunication, renewable energy, water engineering, and security. His other research interests include advanced statistics, computational optimisation, quaternions, source separation, and internet of things.

Teaching

Clive chairs the department assessment board. He obtained his PG Cert in Learning and Teaching from University of Surrey in 2014 and became a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He gratefully acknowledges the receipt of a college excellence teaching commendation by the Principal in recognition of his innovative project-led learning approach in 2020. Part of this pedagogical work was published in “Creativity First, Science Follows: Lessons in Digital Signal Processing Education”, in IEEE Signal Processing Magazine. Currently, he teaches the following courses:

  • Software Engineering for Electronics
  • Fundamentals of Biomedical Engineering
  • Pattern Recognition
