Abstract
The Atlas is a superb volume. As an illustration of one of the most bitter, eventful and complex conflicts of the past century it provides simply wonderful service. Naturally, as a collection of maps, it will not serve as the sole text for any course on the conflict. But as a companion volume it must surely be without equal for students and teachers alike. Its value for those foreign to the region is exceptional. The maps which place Israel and the West Bank beside the UK and within the USA give blunt illustrations of just how small the region actually is and provide a special insight all of their own. I recommend it highly.
