Holocene book review: Environment, Archaeology and Landscape

Research output: Contribution to journalBook/Film/Article review

Abstract

Environment, Archaeology and Landscape is an edited book to mark the retirement of Martin Bell as Professor of Archaeological Science at the University of Reading in 2021. The book aims to honour Bell’s work with a series of research papers reflecting the themes of his long career, covering the broad topic of archaeology and landscapes. Coastal, intertidal and wetland landscapes feature heavily throughout the book, showcasing the rich archaeological and environmental remains they hold; the lessons we can learn from how humans coped with environmental adversity in these dynamic environments in the past; and the challenges we now face for preserving their valuable archaeology from threats such as sea level rise.
