The essay is a remembrance of Bill Griffiths. It describes his first publication in Poetry Review; his family and educational background; his work at the National Poetry Centre in the 1970s; a range of his publications through the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s; his work on prison conditions; his involvement with Old English; his translation practices; his collaborative involvement with Konkrete Canticle; and his archival work on the Eric Mottram papers.
