Abstract
Gallaher’s book is a very welcome addition to the spare literature on the loyalist paramilitaries. She covers very well the trials and tribulations experienced by these militant organisations as they moved into the peace process era. They have certainly struggled to find their way in this new world and amid apparent failure their violence has increasingly turned inward. All those interested in understanding the aftermath of long-running conflicts will benefit from reading this book.
