Abstract
WIKI-PIANO.NET was commissioned and performed by Kanga, and toured over 2018-2020. The work was conceived by Schubert and realised in 20 different versions by the Kanga in performances across 5 countries.
The work reflects internet culture, including social media, memes, trolling and collaborative creativity. The complex distribution of authorship, and the unusual strategies for control utilised by both composer and performer are unique new developments in contemporary music – despite the huge variability in the score and the hundreds of online compositional contributors, the realisations bare the strong imprint of both composer and performer.
The work is also discussed in two journal articles, and three conference papers, and documented in concert films of every subsequent performance.
