Abstract

Contribution to practitioner and public engagement / knowledge exchange.

This feature-length article, based on on-going analysis of data generated from our study on long-term imprisonment from young adulthood, was written specifically for the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) quarterly magazine, Monitor. The article aimed to convey emerging findings about the nature of life imprisonment from young adulthood to the members of the IMB; a national statutory voluntary organisation who ensure proper standards of decency and care are being upheld in prisons in England and Wales.
