Abstract

This article examines the shaping of new attitudes on the part of western pilgrims and visitors to Orthodox monasteries, in the context of changing theological paradigms regarding Orthodoxy; and further proposed reasons for the development of these attitudes relating to the revival of western interest in the origins of monasticism.
