Drawing upon extensive original interview research, Organisational Learning and the Modern Army breaks new ground by exploring best-practice in Army lessons-learned processes. It analyses the organisational processes and activities which can help improve tactical and operational level learning through case studies of lessons-learned in two key NATO Armies: Britain and Germany. The book provides a comparative analysis of the variables which facilitate or impede the emergence of best-practice in military learning. In doing so, it makes an important contribution to the growing scholarship on knowledge management and learning in public organisations. The book demonstrates that getting the detail of learning mechanisms right is vital in ensuring effective adaptation, innovation and emulation during conflict.
