Abstract

ENGLISH

‘Nothing seems more appropriate today than thinking community’, Roberto Esposito has stated in the opening of his book Communitas (1998). Yet nobody has attempted to associate Boccaccio’s Decameron, one of the most influential literary masterpieces regarding community building processes, with the recent developments of communitarian philosophy. This paper aims to fulfill this vacuum, rereading the Decameron in the light of recent trends of communitarian thinking, on the one hand, and in its dialogue with Medieval reflections on Common Good, on the other hand, in order to assess the political dimension of Boccaccio’s masterpiece.
