Project: Research

Description

Past & Present Fellow: Race, Ethnicity & Equality in History (July 2019-August 2020) working with the Royal Historical Society and the Institute for Historical Research to advance the RHS Race, Ethnicity & Equality Working Group (REEWG) as well as continuing research on Irish Exhibitions and the British Empire.

Key findings

RHS has published its annual ‘Roadmap for Change’ in 2019 – a report of how universities, learned societies and a variety of institutions have responded to the report and its findings. And the REEWG intend to produce a series of bespoke handbooks of best practice on key issues on a rolling basis starting in 2020 (for example, BME postgraduate recruitment, grappling effectively with BME awarding gaps and so on). These will be circulated to engaged departments in draft form, so as to be workshopped, refined, and then issued as a series of PDFs for further use.
