Description

Addressing the intricacies and urgencies of the air pollution crisis requires the development of novel datasets, visual vocabularies and ‘bottom-up’ tactics that inspire communities. The proposed research led by Dr. Engelmann together with an interdisciplinary team of electronic engineers and earth scientists at Royal Holloway (Dr. Alin Tisan (Electronic Engineering); Dr. Stefanie Kuenzel (Electronic Engineering); Dr. Kevin Clemitshaw (Earth Sciences); Dr. Dave Lowry (Earth Sciences); Dr. Rebecca Fisher (Earth Sciences)) will investigate the role of an artistic, community driven project (Aerocene) in documenting and communicating air quality issues in the shantytown of Villa Inflamable (the ‘Flammable Town’) in Buenos Aires province.
