Description

Citizens was a three year National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project led by Royal Holloway, University of London.

Working with partners and supporting organisations including the AQA exam board, The National Archives, the People's History Museum, the UK Parliament, the History of Parliament Trust and the Historical Association, the project aim was to help school and college students gain a better understanding of the history of rights and representation, protest and rebellion, from Magna Carta to the Suffragettes and beyond.

The project produced over 200 video resources being used in over 60 schools and colleges across England and Wales; two 'Massive Open Online Courses', produced in partnership with the UK Parliament and People's History Museum; three community history festivals; a programme of school talks, workshops and teacher CPD sessions; U3A Shared Learning Projects and other volunteering and paid student internship opportunities.
