Personal profile

My research investigates adult pro-social behaviour and more specifically factors which affect giving behaviour.

I am broadly interested in how four avenues of research can affect pro-social behaviour: 1) group effects and particularly group polarisation effects; 2) the effects of implicit (non-conscious) and irrational thought processes; 3) the effects of stereotype activation and inflexible cognitive traits; and 4) the effects of social inequality.
Much of the above is from a social psychological perspective; however, I also have an interest in the field of behavioural economics and in particular the application of theory and experimental findings from social, cognitive and evolutionary psychology to the economics of giving.
