My doctoral research advances a new theoretical perspective of media power. It critiques existing theories and argues that in today’s complex media environment media power operates through interactions between the culturally and communicatively symbolic components of communication and the material features and processes of media, through which such communication occurs. Using this theory my research establishes an operational model and empirically assesses the new theory using three case studies.
I was supervised by Professor Andrew Chadwick and have provided teaching assistance on the MA module, New Political Communication at Royal Holloway.
