Silvia Fraga Dominguez completed her PhD at the department of Law and Criminology. Her background is in general psychology and forensic psychology. She is interested in research, teaching, and practice.

Research interests

Silvia's primary research interest is in interpersonal violence, particularly elder abuse and sex offending. She is interested in both victim- and offender-focused research. 

For her doctoral research, she looked at help-seeking in elder abuse, by victims and by others who help them in an informal capacity (primarily family members). She focused on barriers and facilitators to help-seeking, as well as attitudes towards external help and intervention.

Affiliations

As of 2021, Silvia is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and a student member of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services (IAFMHS).

Silvia was Student Secretary of the IAFMHS Student Board (peer-elected) during the 2019-2020 term.

Other work

Silvia was the PGR student representative for the Department of Law and Criminology (2019-2020).
