Personal profile

I completed my PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London investigating how Islamophobic prejudice in the UK could be understood from integrating insights from multiple socio-psychological perspectives.

My research interests broadly are interested in understanding the psychological function of the symbolic self, and how it may protect against deep-rooted anxieties concerning the inevitable demise of the physical self. I am particularly interested in how this need for symbolic systems of self-worth and immortality may be used to explain a diverse array of human phenomena, including prejudice, mental health and environmental attitudes.
