Personal profile

My research takes a social history approach to executors and their accounts in pre-Reformation London. These rare documents have been under-studied for the medieval period, but they are revealing of a whole range of social attitudes and practices. I seek to situate them especially within a framework of 'trust' and thereby attempt a detailed and nuanced answer to the perennial issue that we are generally without evidence for the relationship between testators and their executors in this period.
