Personal profile

Dictating the Holocaust: The Female Administrators of the Third Reich

My thesis examines the women who typed for the Nazis, building up a profile of these women to determine who they were and the nature of the work they undertook. Particular emphasis is given to the secretaries who worked at the Reichssicherheitshauptamt (Reich Security Main Office); using their post-war depositions I assess how much they knew about, and their contribution to, the Nazi policies of persecution. I will compare and contrast the role of the secretaries with that of the Helferinnen, women who volunteered to administrate for the Nazis.
