Polly Hember is an AHRC and TECHNE PhD student at Royal Holloway, University of London, supervised by Prof. Christopher Townsend and Prof. Tim Armstrong. Focusing on modernism and visual culture, her thesis explores the POOL group through the works of Oswell Blakeston, Robert Herring and Kenneth Macpherson.

Her research interests are in modernity, affect studies, mass culture, early cinema, queer theory and technology. She sits on the sits on the executive of BAMS, co-edits The Modernist Review, is co-founder of the HARI-funded research cluster Neo-Romantic Modernisms, edits the Decorating Dissidence journal and co-ordinates the techecast podcast.
