Pip Thornton comes to the CDT from a professional background in the Metropolitan Police and the military. She has BA degrees in History and Politics (Liverpool) and English Literature (Open University), and a Masters in English from King's College London. Her thesis Language in the Age of Algorithmic Reproduction examines the linguistic, economic and political effects of the commodification of language by companies such as Google. She is jointly supervised by Prof. Pete Adey from the Geography department and Prof Keith Martin from the ISG. Her research blog Linguistic Geographies can be found here.
