Personal profile

I am a Creative Writing PhD candidate. My novel is set in the UK and India. My critical work uses the ideas of Homi Bhabha and Edward Said to examine identity, exile and satire in the work of Naipaul, Rushdie, Adiga, Kunzru and others.

I am also a primary school teacher of English and mathematics.

Prior to this, I was South Asia analyst at Control Risks, a political risk consultancy. I also conducted political economy research on the coal sector in India for Oxford University. I was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Insitute of Defence Studies and Analyses in New Delhi and published in their journal 'Strategic Analysis'. I have also co-authored articles on solar energy in India with Professor Barbara Harris-White at Oxford.

Previously, I produced BBC and Channel Four television programmes for ten years.

I have an MSc in Indian politics from Oxford University (St Antony's College) and a BA (Hons) in English and Drama from Bristol University.
