Nicola is a theatre-maker and AHRC-funded PhD candidate at Royal Holloway University of London. Her research is about theatre practice in dementia care settings and how theatre artists can support care homes as creative spaces.

Before starting her PhD Nicola worked as a theatre practitioner for a number of theatres including Hampstead Theatre, Arcola Theatre and Manchester Library Theatre. Nicola received an MA in Applied Theatre with Distinction in 2008 from the University of Manchester, and a 1st Class (hons) degree in Drama from the University of Hull. She continues to run theatre projects in a range of health, care and education settings.
