Dr. Nathan Coombs completed a PhD in Political Theory in the Department of Politics and International Relations under the supervision of Prof. Nathan Widder. His research expertise lies in theories of political transformation, the study of political ideologies, and theology within contemporary political theory. He is now developing a post-doctoral research programme around a study of the implications of 'big data' and other similar mathematically complex market devices for fundamental theories of political economy like F.A. Hayek's.

Nathan is the author of ‘The Political Theology of Red Toryism’, published in the Journal of Political Ideologies, 16(1), February 2011, as well as a number of other papers. He has published in The Guardian, Radical Philosophy, and The Monthly Review, amongst others. He is also an Editor of the Journal of Critical Globalisation Studies, an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal.
