Dr Mikko Laamanen

Personal profile

Mikko Laamanen is a Lecturer in Marketing at Royal Holloway, University of London. Mikko received his PhD from Hanken School of Economics (Finland) and has previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Grenoble Ecole de Management (France).

Mikko is interested in various everyday politics of inclusion and social change. His most recent projects examine mobilisation of consumer lifestyles, practices of alternative and partial organising as well as mechanisms towards a fairer sharing economy. His dissertation on the politics of value creation illustrated collective and conflictual membership practices in the Finnish labour movement. 

His research has been published in Current Sociology, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Marketing Management, Marketing Theory, Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management, The Palgrave Handbook of Volunteering, Civic Participation, and Nonprofit Associations, The Routledge Handbook on Consumption, The Springer Handbook of Social Movements Across Disciplines (full-text and details available here and here). He’s a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Macromarketing

Mikko actively participates in alternative finance and commons movement networks, and enjoys opera.
