Dr Mikko Laamanen

Personal profile

Mikko Laamanen is a Lecturer in Marketing at Royal Holloway, University of London. Mikko received his PhD from Hanken School of Economics (Finland) and has previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Grenoble Ecole de Management (France).

Currently, Mikko studies subversive everyday politics and collective action in alternative economies and lifestyles. His most recent projects examine mobilising consumer lifestyles, practices of alternative and partial organising as well as mechanisms of interest representation in the sharing economy. His dissertation on the politics of value creation illustrated collective and conflictual membership practices in the Finnish labour movement. 

His research has been published in Marketing Theory, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Journal of Macromarketing, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Marketing ManagementThe Springer Handbook of Social Movements Across Disciplines, The Routledge Handbook on Consumption, and The Palgrave Handbook of Volunteering, Civic Participation, and Nonprofit Associations (full-text and details available here and here). He’s a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Macromarketing
