Personal profile

I joined Royal Holloway as an undergraduate student in 2016 and completed a BA in History, taking a particular interest in intellectual history and political philosophy. My undergraduate thesis explored, for example, Nietzsche's "Jesus" and how it fit into nineteenth century "scientific" accounts of the life of Jesus.

I went on to complete an MA in the History of Political Thought and Intellectual History at UCL and Queen Mary before returning to Royal Holloway, where I am currently pursuing a Ph. D. considering the ideas of American statesman John C. Calhoun and the intellectual context of the antebellum South. I hope to explore Calhoun's ideas as a political philosopher and statesman while exploring the racial thought and racist practices of the early United States.
