Luke completed his Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Sussex in 2015, where he specialised in Quantum Chemistry. His masters dissertation entitled "Electron Correlation in Two-Electron Systems" was awarded the Murrel prize for physical/theoretical chemistry by the University of Sussex.

Luke is now undertaking his PhD under Professor Matthias Eschrig, studying iron-based superconductors. This is a joint theoretical and experimental PhD located between Royal Holloway and the Diamond Light Sorce in Didcot, where he will be spending his second year, performing ARPES experiments on superconducting materials.
