DR Khalid Omari obtained his MSc (2011) and PhD (2016) degree from the University of Sheffield in the field of Nanomagnetic materials. His PhD research focus was on the fabrication, simulation and characterisation of domain wall stochastic motion and its dynamics in magnetic nanowires for the purpose of building spintronics applications with deterministic behaviour. His main research outcome involved innovating a digital logic architecture that relies on the spin-structure of vortex domain walls to process and store information (publication - Adv. Func Mat 2019).

Later he joined the Graphene spintronics group as a postdoc at the University of Manchester where he worked in the fabrication of graphene-based spintronic structures to investigate the magneto/charge-transport of graphene as a spin-channels in MTJ and super-lattice structures.

He then joined the antiferromagnetic spintronics group as a research fellow at the University of Nottingham where he was working on developing fast and low-energy switchable antiferromagnetic materials -with inversion assymetry- using electrical pulses. 

Currently, Dr Omari is working at Dr Liu's spintronics group where he is leading the nanofabrication of spin-wave structures. His work involves designing, micromagnetic modelling and nanofabrication of spin-wave waveguides and nanostrucures using topological insulators. In addition to understanding the different spin-wave phenomona in topologial spintronics, the work aims on building devices that can exploit spin-waves in performing novel forms of quantum logic operations. 

Dr Omari earned his BEng degree from the American University of Beirut (in 2006) from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
