Personal profile

My research seeks to explore the encoded meanings of cutlery in relation to power and order, when used in nineteenth-century literature. I analyse the significance of metonymy and semiotic slips relating to such articles, examining the relationship between objects and language. I am interested in the connection between the mind and the actions of the hand, seeking further understanding of how fantasies of the self are constructed on a textual level.
