I completed a PhD in Italian Studies at Royal Holloway in 2015 (PhD awarded Nov 2016), with a thesis entitled "History Eucation and the School textbook in Fascist Italy". My research interests are Fascism and nationalism in Italy, historiography and the use of history in modern Italy, history education and national identity, and modernisation / national identity in a comparative or transnational perspective. I am also a writer and translator (English, Italian into Korean) in South Korea. Although my academic expertise in history is modern Italy, I broadly write popular books and articles related to Italian history and culture from the Middle Ages to the recent years.
