My thesis considers the intersection of art and life within the works of Oscar Wilde, M.R. James, and Goethe. I am specifically focusing on the use of ekphrasis and mimeticism. This thesis makes a significant, interdisciplinary contribution to current discussions of mimeticism, such as the recent cultural evolution that has followed The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
Research Interests: Gothic, Aestheticism, Decadence, 19th Century (and the fin de siècle), Romanticism.
