Dr Helen Pote

Personal profile

My research interests focus on child mental health, family functioning and mental health literacy. I have completed research exploring the process of therapy and successful therapy outcomes for systemic and cognitive-behavioral therapies delivered to children and their families. I have also completed a number of projects with schools, exploring mental health literacy, children's mental health, stigma and perceptions of mental health problems. I have recently developed MindAid - a mental health literacy app for teachers.

Through work on an MRC project I developed a manual for systemic family therapy and developed this for use in research and training internationally. I have a particular interest in mental health services for for children and adults who have a learning disability and developed an NHS mental health care pathway for children with learning disabilities.
