Dr Helen O'Neill

Personal profile

I am a Postdoctoral Research Assistant working with Professor Ruth Livesey on the AHRC funded project "Provincialism: Literature and the Cultural Politics of Middleness in Nineteenth-Century Britain." I gained an MRes in 2013 and a PhD in 2019 both in Library and Information Studies at UCL following a career as a chartered librarian with managerial posts at Leeds City Libraries, the Barbican Library and latterly at the London Library. My research interests focus on the historical impact of book collections and libraries on the works and public actions of nineteenth century writers and thinkers. I am particularly interested in using the Digital Humanities to address questions within these fields not previously thought possible.
