Dr Emma Brodzinski

Personal profile

I am Senior Lecturer in Theatre and Performance.  My research interests lie in Applied Theatre - in particular theatre and health and theatre and therapy.   My professional experience as a dramatherapist and arts in health practitioner are important touchstones for my work.  I have published a number of chapters in the field and a monograph Theatre in Health and Care (London: Palgrave, 2010).  My work in Scandanavia led to me co-editing a special edition of Journal of Applied Arts in Health (2015)
and I remain part of the editorial board for that journal.  More recently I developed projects with social workers, exploring ethics and reflective practice - 'Ethics, Theatre and Judgement' in Art in Social Work Practice Theory and Practice: International Perspectives (2018).   I am currently writing on artistic perspecives on assisted reproductive technologies for Routledge Companion to Performance and Medicine.  I am also developing creative projects with young people with physical disabilities.  I work to support PhD students with their mental health through a variety of schemes and host The PhD Life Raft Podcast.
