Personal profile

I am curator of the Charles Dickens Museum, London, and have completed my PhD entitled 'Charles Dickens and Literary Tourism: His Experiential Encounters and Legacy'.

My PhD research focuses on Charles Dickens and literary tourism, working in collaboration with the Royal Holloway English Department and the Charles Dickens Museum, London. I explore Dickens's relationship with literary heritage from the nineteenth century to today. I investigate Dickens's encounters with the literary heritage of other authors such as Walter Scott and Shakespeare and show how these experiences influenced Dickens's construction of his own legacy. The project also analyses how we experience Dickens's literary heritage today, using the Charles Dickens Museum as a key example.  The project is cross-curricular, utilising the fields of English, Victorian Studies, Heritage Studies, Museum Studies and History.
