Personal profile

I joined Royal Holloway, University of London in January 2019 and have since then taught on a range of programmes from the first year Undergraduate to Postgraduate level including dissertation supervision and writing new modules at Undergraduate level (Final Year Module). During my time here I have worked closely with a wide range of stakeholders and in September 2020 along with Professor Sukanya we guided/supervised BAME ambassadors to write a report which focused on attainment gap. Since 2020 I have been a member of Academic Board Committee and an Academic Board Executive College Committee.  I am also Director for Student Experience, a role that I took on in August 2019.

As a Director for Student experience I actively engage with students. I am a member of the School Executive Team where we work closely together to improve our excellent teaching and experiences – providing an inclusive learning environment for all of our students. I also work closely with module leaders to improve and enhance student experience and support. Thus, working with the team to develop and implement new and effective initiatives to enhance students experience at RHUL. I build a solid case for a placement and a graduate role after graduation. In this role I also work closely with student representatives and the SU team with the aim of can supporting students during their studies at RHUL. As part of this role I work closely with the careers team to improve student employability and ensure that there is a joined up, consistent and efficient approach to career events and opportunities for students in the School, while recognising the needs of individual departments as well.

Prior to completing Masters and PhD studies at Warwick Business School, I read economics as well as law. My work experience revolves around private and public sector. I have a comprehensive industry career history developed whilst studying and beyond which compliment a compliance, legislative and research related role. I have also contributed to several organisations for project management and business analysis in the role of consultant. I have been involved in a number of projects, from the construction industry to public sector. The recent project involved working in an international organisation where I was asked to scrutinise their existing ineffective business model and to implement a new strategy and business model for their organisation. This involved working alongside the CEO, Executive Directors and employees. This was a year long project. The new initiatives included changing the the way the company run historically and provided a new ground-breaking way of working. Here I effectively defined their value proposition, articulated a new nuanced compelling mission and story behind it and developed targeted marketing strategies and conversed this effectively with stakeholders. This was an excellent contribution where I introduced a new and a fresh perspective to their organisation.

The combination of my studies, work experience and personal interest has led me to pay particular interest issues around public policy, a focus that was considered in my PhD studies. My main interest area of research is based on public sector, particularly critically evaluating the power dynamics of the New Public Management Policy in the education sector, an important area of research where the government spending is increasing year by year and it has a direct impact on our day to day lives.

PhD supervision

I welcome supervision students in the broad area of organisational studies including: change management, in any aspect of leadership, formation of occupational identity, communication at workplace, power dynamics and politics of organisational space.

Research interests

My research interest sits under critical organisation studies and I am especially interested in scrutinising; public policy, strategic change, managing change, leadership, professional identity, bureaucratic organisations, remote working, power dynamics and politics of organisational spaces, aesthetics, visual methodology, ambivalence, ambiguity and formation of occupational identity.
