My PhD looks at pop-up places in London in order to explore new ways in which space-time is being imagined and distributed in the contemporary city. Specifically, I focus on pop-up cinema, shipping conainer architectures and supper clubs. Methodologically, I am experimenting with the use of interactive documentary as a way to engage creatively with nonlinear spatiotemporal imaginaries and urban change.
I am part of a team currently embarking on the project 'Precarious Times, Pop-up Solutions' which uses participatory interactive documentary making to explore resident experiences of pop-up housing.
I am also working collaboratively with Mel Nowicki on a series of events and publications around the theme of 'Precarious Geographies'. https://precariousgeographies.wordpress.com/
I have an MA in Cultural Geography, also from Royal Holloway, but, before becoming a Cultural Geographer, I did a BA in English (Balliol College, Oxford). In the past I've done some work in film and currently work with the Passenger Films team at Royal Holloway.
