Personal profile

Over the course of my career I have published research on cognitive psychology, specifically reasoning and memory expertise, the philosophy and history of psychology, and the psychology of music.

Research grants have been received from the ESRC, the British Academy, and the Research Council for Complementary Medicine.

I was the founding editor of History & Philosophy of Psychology, the periodical of the History & Philosophy Section of the British Psychological Society; and I have served on the editorial boards of Analiza; Mental Health, Religion & Culture; Theory & Psychology; Philosophical Psychology; and Mind & Language.

My current research interests focus on the development of institutional psychology in London in the early nineteenth century, with a particular interest in women pioneer psychologists.
