Personal profile

Edwin Orero completed his PhD at the School of Management, Royal Holloway, University of London, in November 2019.

Edwin's Doctoral Research explored the key debates within Infrastructure Financing and examined the role played by Public Private Partnership's (PPPs), in general, in the provision of public services. More specifically, his thesis then investigated the increasing use of PPPs by developing countries and the reasons for this uptake.

Noting that PPPs have become more prevalent as governments seek innovative ways to deliver services to the public, the thesis asks why and finds that there are economic and political reasons behind the adoption of PPPs. In addition to these reasons, however, the thesis finds and draws out the role of transnational institutions in promoting PPPs to low-income and lower middle-income countries.

Edwin also holds an MSc in Public Policy and Management from the University of London; a Bachelor of Education (Economics, Accounting) First Class Honours, from the University of Nairobi and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

Edwin has worked in external audit, internal audit and in project assurance in the financial services industry, for a number of years.
