Personal profile

As a Stó:lõ First Nations scholar, I am committed to fostering relationships between universities and Indigenous communities, and to exploring research issues that impact First Peoples. As an artist engaged in practice-based research, my work initiating processes of collaborative inquiry in immersive installation environments. Such environments provide a site for audiences to experience music performances, and then discuss such performances together.

Research interests

Dylan's research is focused primarily within the areas of music aesthetics, Indigenous artistic and cultural practices, and the relationships between the senses and the arts. His most recent research examines redress and reconciliation initiatives initiated by First Peoples in Canada and Native Americans in the US. This research questions how material, aural, kinetic and tactile modes of expression both enable and limit processes of restorative justice.
