Personal profile

My name is Diego Sosa. I have been a professional writer for the past 18 years. I have mostly dedicated my practice to Theatre, having had professional plays staged around the world, namely Mexico, USA, UK, and Spain. However, I have also written professional Radio and just last year (i.e. 2017) I was part of a writing team for a TV series, produced by NBC/Telemundo,  that was broadcasted in the US and it is now being shown in Mexico.

My BA is in Sociology and I have a Masters in Creative Writing and a second MA in Playwriting. My PhD research focuses on Film adaptation to the stage, which includes the adaptation of Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí's film Un Chien Andalou.

Research interests

My research is a thorough analysis of Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí's film Un Chien Andalou. My analysis is mostly focused on the influence that th Spanish Literary Avant-Garde had on the film. This study allows me to determine the structure that the images in the film follow so that this syntax can then be applied to an entirely new version of the film for the stage, thus creating my own appropriation of the film for theatre.
