Research Interests

I am interested in exploring the psychological mechanisms that drive transphobia. For instance, my work seeks to understand how factors such as essentialist thinking, strong group identity, and gender distinctiveness threat might influence attitudes towards transgender people. I am also interested in how perceiver and target level factors might interact to yield negative attitudes towards transgender people.

My research also focuses on testing effective processes for transprejudice reduction. This involves investigating whether prejudice reduction mechanisms that have been effective in interethnic relations could be applied to issues related to transgender identity. My research employs a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Research Experience

During my undergraduate study, I was awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate Research Bursary by Royal Hollway University of London. This afforded me the opportunity to work on a project as a research assistant to Dr. Thora Bjornsdottir (2020 – 2021). This project investigated perceiver’s ability to use facial cues to accurately detect sexual attraction from target faces.

Educational Background

I earned a first-class honours degree in BSc Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London (2018 – 2021). I was awarded a fully funded PhD studentship at RHUL.
