Daniel began a PhD under Professor John Saunders, studying the use of Hybrid Quantum Interference devices to measure NMR signals. This was a joint PhD between Royal Holloway and the National Physical Laboratory, performing experimental studies of HyQUIDs at both. After choosing to terminate that course, Daniel received a scholarship to study for a PhD in Electronic Engineering focussing on virtual exploration of the human vocal tract.
