Cathy is a research associate in the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society. Her work takes a political ecological approach to examine change in the use and knowledge of fire within rural livelihoods. A focus of her work is on Belize, where she has examined the legacies of British colonialism in approaches to savanna fire management and attitudes towards agricultural fire use.
