Personal profile

Aoiffe Walsh is a PhD researcher with the Media Arts department at Royal Holloway, University of London. In 2018 she graduated the RHUL Media Arts Masters by Research programme with a thesis exploring the pragmatist origins of the Surrealist movement of 1930s Cambridge. Prior to this, she gained her undergraduate degree in Film and Philosophy and was awarded the 2016 Film Studies prize for the highest ranked First Class honours student.

Currently Aoiffe's research is concerned with the intellectual foundations of Surrealism, particularly in interwar Britain. Building upon the research conducted throughout her MRes, she continues to identify threads of influence that cultivate a perspective on British Surrealism consistent with the empiricist character of early 20th century Cambridge.

Her broader research interests include poetic and literary theory, romanticism, history and theory of the avant-garde and empiricist philosophy.
